KAFFARA & FIDYA
Kaffarah means expiation. A Muslim has to pay Kaffarah if they deliberately miss or break a fast during Ramadan, without a valid reason. According to Imam Abu Hanifa, if a person breaks their fast without a valid reason, he or she has to either fast for 60 consecutive days or feed 60 poor people. At TOBA we calculated each Iftar meal is calculated at $10 per person. Your Kaffarah donations are 100% donated to the beneficiaries and will be distributed around the world to those most in need during the month of Ramadan.
All Muslims who are able should fast the whole month of Ramadan. However, if one is unable to fast due to a legitimate reason such as a chronic illness, they should pay a fidyah to feed a poor person for each missed day of fasting. TOBA has calculated your Fidya to be $10 for one Iftar Meal. We have a 100% policy when it comes to the money you pay for your fidyah and the meals will be distributed in Lebanon, Palestine, Yemen, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Myanmar and many more countries.
