Aqiqah or aqeeqah is a confirmed sunnah or Islamic tradition. It is the sacrifice of an animal on the occasion of a new born muslim child. The parent or guardian is required to sacrifice the animal on behalf of the newborn on the 7th, 14th or 21st day after the child's birth. The Prophet(as) said "Every child is in pledge of his Aqiqah, so slaughter (the animal) for him, on the seventh day, shave his head and name him..." Ibn Majah 30:3165. The Olive Branch Australia sources quality aqiqah/aqeeqah from local farmers in poverty stricken areas around the world. This enables you to perform your obligations easily and affordably while you know you are feeding the most needy.
